David Rafter:
Prior to becoming President & CEO of Profero Energy, David was an Executive-in-Residence with University Technologies International (UTI). In this position, David worked with UTI’s company creation and incubation service – IGNITE – providing business expertise to potential start-up companies. David has also held senior positions with several research-based organizations and has raised over $60 million in capital for technology start-ups. He has also closed numerous licensing and technology acquisition agreements with multinational organizations.
Kevin Casement:
Kevin Casement is the Interim President & CEO for University Technologies International as well as the Vice President of Licensing and Business Development. He came to UTI in 2005 from the University of Texas M.D. Anderson Cancer Center (MDACC) where he was their Director of Technology Assessment and Licensing. Prior to that, Kevin was a Scientific Advisor with Arnold White & Durkee, a well-known Intellectual Property (IP) legal firm, where he was responsible for new IP development and assisting in the management of a patent portfolio for one of the firm’s key clients, a start-up biotechnology company. Kevin has a Ph.D. in Biomedical Sciences with an emphasis in Cellular Immunology, from the University of Texas Health Science Center in Houston and the University of Texas M.D. Anderson Cancer Center.
Steve Larter:
Steve is one of the key founders and researchers for Profero’s technologies, and the current Canada Research Chair in Petroleum Geology at the University of Calgary. Over the last four years, he has been involved with the Alberta Ingenuity Centre for In Situ Energy (AICISE) and was instrumental in securing support for the Centre from Alberta Ingenuity, Alberta Energy Research Institute and industry partners. Steve holds a BA and MA in Natural Sciences from the University of Cambridge and an MSc and PhD in Geochemistry from the University of Newcastle upon Tyne.
Shaun Paterson:
Shaun Paterson is Vice President, Marketing for Baytex Energy Trust where he is responsible for the transportation, marketing and implementation of the Trust’s commodity-price-risk mitigation strategies. He has over 30 years of experience in the oil and gas industry and has worked for Chevron and Dynegy as well as EnCana, where he was Vice President of Domestic Crude Oil Marketing. Shaun holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Alberta.
Robin Lockwood:
Robin Lockwood is the Head of Commercial Development, Newcastle University
Johnny Cordiner:
Johnny Cordiner is a lead investor with Novotech Investment, a venture capital group in the United Kingdom. He is an experienced investment banker who specializes in life sciences and oil and gas. He is a graduate chemist, a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants for Scotland and a member of the Securities Institute. Johnny gained 15 years business experience in a number of financial roles, including working in industry, management consulting and offshore banking, before entering investment banking.
